Life is filled with seasons that test our faith. Some days the mountains seem immovable, the valleys too deep, and the storms too strong. Yet when we pause and look back, we can see a trail of victories God has already brought us through. And if He did that before, He can do this now.
The psalmist declared in Psalm 77:11, “I will remember the deeds of the Lord; yes, I will remember your miracles of long ago.” Memory is not just nostalgia; it’s fuel for faith. When we recall the times God healed us, delivered us, provided for us, or comforted us, we are reminded that His power has not diminished. Because God did that, He can do this too.
The Power of Remembering
When David faced Goliath, he didn’t look at the giant with fear. Instead, he remembered the lion and the bear that God had already delivered into his hands (1 Samuel 17:37). David’s past testimonies became his present courage. He essentially said, “If God did that, then surely He can handle this giant too.”
We often forget that our testimonies are not just stories — they are proof of God’s unchanging nature. Hebrews 13:8 declares, “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.” If He was faithful then, He is faithful now.
A Solution for Critical Times
The world today is filled with headlines that make hearts heavy: wars, economic struggles, family pressures, sickness, and loss. People wonder if there’s any hope. But here’s the solution: look back. Remember. Testify.
If He provided before, He will provide again. That unexpected bill you paid years ago? That was Him. He can do it again.
If He healed you before, He can heal again. The sickness that didn’t take you out last time? That same God is still the Healer today.
If He gave you peace in the storm, He can calm this storm too. Remember those nights you cried, but peace came anyway? That wasn’t a coincidence — that was the Comforter at work.
The solution in critical times is not to invent a new kind of faith, but to remember what God has already done and apply it to what you are facing right now.
Faith and Lifestyle Application
So how do we turn this truth into daily practice? Here are a few ways:
Start a Testimony Journal. Write down every time God answers a prayer or provides in an unexpected way. In hard times, flip back through the pages.
Wear Your Testimony. A bracelet with a scripture, a shirt that declares “God is Good,” or even a piece of décor in your home can serve as a reminder: “Because He did that, He can do this too.”
Speak It Out Loud. When fear rises, say: “Lord, I remember when You did ____. I believe you will do it again.” Speaking faith activates courage.
Teach It to Others. Share your testimonies in your family, group, or online community. Your story may be the very encouragement someone else needs to trust God in their own trial.
God’s Track Record Is Perfect
Unlike human promises, God has never failed. You may not understand His timing, but you can trust His record. He is the God who parted the Red Sea, who rained manna from Heaven, who healed the blind and raised the dead. And He is the same God walking with you today.
Isaiah 46:9 reminds us: “Remember the former things, those of long ago; I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like me.” When doubt tries to creep in, remember that you are following the God who specializes in impossible situations.
Encouragement for Today
Friend, I know times are hard. I know the storm feels stronger than you. But take courage. You’ve been here before. And every time, God showed Himself faithful. If He brought you through the last season, He will carry you through this one too.
Hold on to this truth: “Because God did that, He can do this too.”
Your greatest weapon in critical times is not what you see but what you remember. Memory births faith. Testimony fuels hope. And trust keeps you moving forward until break through comes.
Reflection Question: What is one past victory God gave you that you can hold onto today as proof He will move again?
